USC Reportedly Will Hire Bush as Track Aide

Share

Jim Bush, who coached UCLA to four National Collegiate Athletic Assn. track and field championships in his 20 years as head coach of the Bruins, will be working as an assistant track coach at USC next season, according to Fred Roggin, who made the announcement on Channel 4 Thursday night.

Bush has told friends that he will be coaching USC’s hurdlers and quarter-milers.

A USC official said, however, that Bush had not officially been hired, although he has discussed with Coach Ernie Bullard the possibility of working as a volunteer assistant.

Since retiring as the UCLA coach in July 1984, Bush has worked as a conditioning coach with the Raiders and the Dodgers, and has also worked as a consultant with several UCLA football players.
