Raids on Homeless
When Father R.H. Delgado (Letters, July 2) expressed his shock at the “cruelty and heartlessness” of those Los Angeles city officials responsible for the raids on the camps of the homeless, reported in The Times, he would no doubt include the reports of similar illegal behavior on the part of the Santa Ana authorities.
For letter writer H.A. Burt is right on target when she characterizes the “solution to the homeless problem” as “theft, burglary and assault.”
These are no answers to the vital need for massive programs for low-cost housing and job-training, as well as vital social and medical services for those in need of them.
