Salvadoran President Jose Napoleon Duarte reacted favorably to 10 days of chemotherapy to slow the spread of terminal cancer and will return home Monday to resume his presidency, the Salvadoran ambassador announced in Washington. Ambassador Ernesto Rivas Gallont said Duarte will pay a brief visit to President Reagan at the White House before leaving for San Salvador. Duarte, 62, underwent surgery June 7 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington. Surgeons removed two-thirds of his stomach but found that his liver is also cancerous and determined his condition to be inoperable.
