Chris Huber of San Jose won the timed circuit race in the Whiskey Creek Stage Race, and Alexi Grewal of Boulder, Colo., finished third to retain his leader’s jersey in the cycling event at Mammoth Mountain.

Huber, of the 10-Speed Drive team, completed 18 laps of the 2.6-mile loop in 1 hour 55 minutes 19 seconds. John Tomac of Chatsworth and the Sunkyong team, was a strong second in 1:55:21 to move up in the overall standings.

Grewal, gold medalist in the 1984 Olympic road race, also was timed in 1:55:21. He rides for Crest.

The event winds up today with the Whiskey Creek Criterium, in which the top 100 riders from each category will compete for $50,000 in prizes.
