The Pacific Symphony has received a $25,000 grant from the National Endowment of the Arts, orchestra officials announced this week. The grant will be used to support rehearsals and performances of new works in the 1988-89 season and to help underwrite the current summer series at Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre.

Laguna Beach resident Robert L. Luskey Jr. has been elected president of the Long Beach Opera Assn. board of directors, opera officials announced this week. Luskey is chief executive officer of Luskey Brothers & Co., a telephone directory publishing company based in Anaheim. He previously was vice president of the board and head of its marketing committee. Other Orange County residents on the 39-member board include newly elected Don Watson, Jack McIntyre and Betty Hamer, joining local colleagues Deanna Ashby, Gene Stanwyck and Keith Polakoff.
