Thoemmes Plans to Transfer From SDSU

Wade Thoemmes, a defensive lineman from Honolulu, said Tuesday that he has withdrawn from San Diego State and will not return to the football team this fall.

Thoemmes, a 6-foot 3-inch, 235-pound redshirt sophomore, said he left school for “personal reasons” and would transfer to Taft (Calif.) College. Thoemmes declined to elaborate on his reasons for leaving SDSU.

He had rejoined the Aztecs for spring practice after he temporarily left the team last September.

Thoemmes, who played sparingly as a freshman, had been one of the contenders for an opening at nose tackle.
