Mead Corp. said net earnings for the second quarter were up 40% to $73 million, compared to $51.9 million a year ago. Sales for the Dayton, Ohio-based forest products and electronic publishing company rose 7% to $1.16 billion from $1.08 billion. “Demand for our products and services continues strong across the board,” the company said.
