Santa Monica : Park Contract Awarded
The City Council has awarded a $775,000 construction contract to Hacienda Engineering/Construction for the 4-acre expansion of Santa Monica’s Clover Park.
Improvements will include the extension of 28th Street; the construction of two baseball diamonds with spectator bleachers, a new soccer field and a children’s play area; extension of the park’s jogging and walking path and development of par course stations; new picnic facilities, and a Santa Monica Airport observation area. All of the new facilities will be accessible to the disabled.
Despite a recommendation from the Recreation and Parks Commission that expansion plans include a field lighting system, the city did not include lights in the proposal because of possible interference with night landings at the airport.
