Marines Discharge, Imprison Woman for Homosexual Acts

Former Marine Corps drill instructor Sgt. Cheryl Jameson was sentenced today to a year in prison for having homosexual relationships with another drill instructor and a recent graduate of the Marine Corps Recruit Training Depot.

Jameson also was reduced in rank to a private, dishonorably discharged and forced to forfeit all pay and benefits. She pleaded guilty Thursday to engaging in indecent acts, but charges of sodomy and obstruction of justice were dropped.

Jameson, 27, is the second Marine to be given a prison sentence in the ongoing investigation into lesbianism at the Parris Island boot camp.
