5 Awarded Scholarships

Nature’s Hotline, a Los Angeles-based organization aimed at promoting self-esteem through good nutrition, has awarded $100 scholarships to five Los Angeles County high school students.
The nonprofit group, which uses rap presentations to reach more than l7,000 school children every year, gears its message toward fighting drug use and gang activity, particularly in the black community, said Jacinto Anielle Rhines Jr., a self-taught nutritionist who founded the organization in 1978.
