Allison Higson, a member of the Canadian Olympic team, set meet records in the 100-meter breaststroke and the 200-meter individual medley at the USC Swim Stadium Sunday on the final day of the Los Angeles Invitational.

Almost every event produced a meet record, but the most impressive was the 54.88-second 100-meter butterfly by Vlastimil Cerny of Canada, who broke the record of 55.67 set by Mark Spitz in 1972. Spitz was on hand to see his record broken because he was doing commentary for Prime Ticket, which showed highlights of the meet.

Janel Jorgensen of the Wahoo club won the women’s 100-meter breastroke in 1:01.21.

Kristen Linehan, a Canadian Olympian swimming for the Etobicoke Pepsi Swim Team, set a meet record and beat Silvia Poll of Costa Rica with a 1:03.25 in the women’s 100-meter backstroke. Poll finished in 1:04.05.

Harry Taylor of Canada won the men’s 1500-meter freestyle with a meet record 15:32.50, beating Lar Jorgenson of the Rancho Bernardo Swim Team (who will be a freshman at USC this fall) and USC graduate Chris Chalmers of Canada. Patricia Noall of Canada won the women’s 1500-meter freestyle in 16:55.33.
