Ropak Corp., Fullerton, posted net income of nearly $1.1 million for the second quarter, a 29% increase from the $822,000 earned in the comparable quarter of 1987. Ropak’s second-quarter revenue totaled $25.5 million, up 26% from the $20.2 million recorded a year earlier. Six-month net income was $1.5 million, double the $757,000 posted for the first half of last year. Net sales rose 31%, to $42.9 million from $32.7 million. Results for 1987 have been restated to reflect an accounting change. Before restatement, Ropak’s net income was $772,000 for the second quarter of 1987 and $646,000 for the year’s first half. William H. Roper, chairman and chief executive officer, credited the company’s record second-quarter performance to a strong order rate and to less intense competition in the plastic container industry. Ropak is a maker of plastic packaging and materials-handling products for foods, coatings and varied agricultural and industrial materials.
