Superior Industries Shows Record Profits in Quarter

Superior Industries International reported record earnings and sales for the second quarter that ended June 30.

The Van Nuys-based manufacturer of wheels, seat belts and other automotive parts said it earned $3.2 million, or 50 cents a share, up 32% from $2.4 million, or 37 cents a share, a year earlier. Revenue for the period was up 24% to $52.4 million from $42.3 million a year earlier.

Chairman Louis Borick attributed the company’s performance to continuing increase in demand for the aluminum wheels it produces.

For the six months that ended June 30, Superior earned $6.3 million, or 98 cents a share, compared to $5.1 million, or 78 cents a share, a year earlier. Revenue was $98.3 million compared to $84.8 million for the same period a year ago.
