Local News in Brief : Yorba Linda : Nixon Library Wins City Council’s OK
The City Council on Tuesday night approved the final design review of the Richard M. Nixon Presidential Library, clearing the way for construction of the $25-million complex later this year.
The vote, to approve the Planning Commission’s same action last month, was the last “bureaucratic hurdle” facing the library, Mayor Ronald E. Bigonger said.
Grading and building permits have yet to be issued but are expected to be routine, city officials said.
The two-level library, on a 6-acre site at Eureka and Yorba Linda avenues, will sit next to the small wood-frame house where Nixon was born 75 years ago.
The library has met no opposition in the city.
Ground breaking for the site has been set for November or early December, Bigonger said. Nixon is expected to attend.
