The Orange County branch of the 4th District Court of Appeal will relocate early next year from an office building on Santa Ana Boulevard in the county Civic Center to a new, two-story office complex a few blocks away, officials said Thursday.

The four-justice panel has occupied a floor at 600 W. Santa Ana Blvd. for five years.

The General Services Administration, which is responsible for selecting real estate for state offices, signed a lease last week for the new building located at 925 N. Spurgeon St., Presiding Judge Harmon G. Scoville said.

The court will not move until early January, he said.

“The lease has been signed. It survived the budget cuts in Sacramento,” Scoville said. “The building we are in now is very nice, but we’ve been out of space here for a while.”

The new location, which has basement parking, has a total of 26,686 square feet, compared to about 13,000 in the current location.

The first floor will house the courtroom and clerk’s office and the second floor will used for the justices’ offices.
