Axing for Trouble

Share

About 200 MGM employes got the ax the other day. But the news wasn’t all bad. A couple days later, following the sale of the studio to Burt Sugarman, Peter Guber and Jon Peters, employees were treated to a screening of “A Fish Called Wanda.”

Sources tell us there was applause for “Leo” prior to a vintage Tom and Jerry cartoon. But when the new MGM/UA corporate logo appeared before “Wanda,” the room erupted with hisses and boos.

“You’ve got to understand that Alan Ladd Jr. really built a family spirit at MGM,” said the source. “We’re sad to see it all break up.”
