Federal prosecutors in Salt Lake City filed a nine-count complaint against three University of Utah students, including two football players, alleging conspiracy to distribute cocaine.

Two of the defendants, sophomore fullback Martel Black, 19, of National City, Calif., and Samuel A. Simmons of Los Angeles, were arrested July 12 during a raid on an apartment rented by Black, prosecutors said.

The bust netted 2.2 pounds of cocaine, according to the complaint. Three other suspects arrested during the raid were not named in the complaint, due to insufficient evidence, prosecutor Wayne Dance said.

The complaint, however, also names sophomore wide receiver Darren Hughes, 21, of Lynwood.
