Senate Swap on Offshore Oil
How hypocritical can Sen. Pete Wilson (R-Calif.) get? He stands on the Senate floor (according to your article) and calls the amendment to put off Southern California oil drilling “justice” and urges his colleagues to support it.
Then he learns that the amendment was the result of lobbying by his opponent in the November election, McCarthy, and he starts calling the amendment a “disaster” because it moves up a lease sale in Alaska.
How dumb does he think the voters are? I haven’t seen a flip-flop that fast since the Kiwanis Club’s pancake breakfast.
The fact is, Wilson was embarrassed that McCarthy was able to do more to save our coast than he was. He should just grow up and admit he lost this one.
