Negotiators for the San Francisco Opera and the Opera Chorus went back to the bargaining table Tuesday, one week after contract talks broke down. “I think we’re close to a settlement,” said Mark Rongone, lawyer for the American Guild of Musical Artists, which represents the 60-member opera chorus. Negotiators met with federal mediator Maggie Jacobsen in Rongone’s office. The opera has warned that a quick settlement is needed so that the fall season, which is scheduled to open Sept. 9, will not be affected.
