Art Museum Seeks Applications for Docent Program

Share

The Docent Council of the Long Beach Museum of Art is accepting applications for membership in its 1988-89 training program, which will start with an orientation meeting at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 15. A two-year commitment is required after completion of the training program.

Docent Council meetings will be held on Thursday mornings and will feature lectures and informal talks by artists, curators and educators, exhibition previews and tours to other art institutions, including museums, galleries and artists’ studios.

The council provides educational services for the museum, conducting exhibition tours and workshops for adults and children. Participating in the museum’s docent program affords participants an opportunity to meet with members of the art community while enriching one’s knowledge of contemporary art. For additional information, call the museum at 439-2119. The museum, 2300 E. Ocean Blvd., is open to the public from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
