The La Jolla Playhouse canceled the interpreted performance of “Two Rooms” scheduled for Saturday because of a lack of interest by the hearing-impaired. Diane Streifer, associate director of the San Diego Theatre League, which sponsored this year’s series of interpreted performances, attributed the problem to the high price of tickets--$14-- and said the Theatre League may use the money saved for this performance to subsidize ticket prices for the next interpreted performance. According to a Playhouse spokeswoman, however, it is not money but the show that makes the difference. There is already advance interest in the Playhouse’s upcoming musical “80 Days,” which will have an interpreted performance at the Oct. 1 matinee.
