It may be a disaster to most TV producers when viewers fall asleep during their show, but the people responsible for “You Can Learn to Sleep”--a late-night series on Dutch TV--are delighted with the somnolent response they got for their show. According to audience research statistics, one in five of the average 170,000 persons in the audience handed back their sleeping pills and one-third said they were sleeping better after watching the show. The eight-part course, which ended in April, taught its audience how to use breathing and relaxation exercises rather than sleeping pills to overcome insomnia.
