The Red Cross laboratory here says it has closed for reorganization after being cited by the Food and Drug Administration for more than 150 errors, mostly involving AIDS and hepatitis screening.

The faults were detected between January, 1987, and June, 1988, Brian McDonough, chief operating officer of the Red Cross St. Louis Bi-State Chapter, said Wednesday.

As a result of errors in screening, five donors and six patients who received their blood products will be monitored for the next few months to determine any health hazards, McDonough said.
