A Fountain Valley motorcyclist was cited Saturday for reckless driving and fleeing a police officer after a 100 m.p.h.-chase that ended in a crash, Seal Beach police said.
The man lost control of his cycle and crashed at the on-ramp of the San Diego Freeway in Seal Beach, police said.
After his arrest, John D. Beever, 25, was released and taken to Memorial Medical Center of Long Beach for treatment of his injuries, said Sgt. Michael Vasquez. At the hospital, Vasquez said, Beever refused treatment.
Vasquez said Beever was not wearing a helmet.
An officer saw Beever riding his motorcycle at high speed while traveling south on Pacific Coast Highway. After the officer turned on his red light, Vasquez said, Beever headed north on Seal Beach Boulevard, reaching a speed of 100 m.p.h.
He then turned west onto Westminster Avenue, made a U-turn back to Seal Beach Boulevard and lost control of the motorcycle while trying to negotiate a curve at the on-ramp from Seal Beach to the southbound San Diego Freeway, hitting the center divider.
