Indian TV watchers the world over can relax: New episodes of “Ramayana” are returning to the airwaves. The announcement was made Sunday on government television just after what was to have been the 78th and final episode of the popular Hindu serial. The earlier announced cancellation of the show led to a strike by garbage collectors and viewer riots. No date for broadcasting further programs was given in the announcement, but the show’s producer, Ramanand Sagar, told Press Trust of India that it would take until at least November to tape more episodes.
