A mentally retarded Southeast San Diego man was caught in a cross fire and fatally shot while riding his bicycle, police said. Oliver Harrison, 37, was shot, apparently by accident, during an exchange of gunfire at 4:50 p.m. Sunday, San Diego Police Department spokesman Dave Cohen said. The shooting apparently was sparked by a bottle-throwing incident, Cohen added. Harrison was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital about an hour after the shooting. Police said Harrison, the 83rd homicide in the city this year, was not involved in the dispute in the 6100 block of Akins Avenue. Cohen said there are no suspects in the killing, which is under investigation.
