Burglar Routed by Duchess and Her Dog

LONDON — The Duchess of Beaufort, true to her family motto “I scorn to change or fear,” chased a burglar from her 40-bedroom stately home during the night, police said today.
Her grace leaped out of bed, alerting the butler and her dog, Mabel, and crept down the dark staircase to confront the burglar. He fled after dropping stolen valuables in the library and being bitten by the dog.
