The Beverly Hills City Council has narrowed to four its list of potential developers for a proposed parking lot and commercial/retail structure on a city-owned parking lot in the business district.

The City Council on Tuesday accepted the recommendation of an advisory committee to pursue proposals from the following developers:

Barker-Patrinely Group Inc., which has built projects in Miami, San Francisco and Scottsdale, Ariz.

GBW Properties Inc., developers of the Marina Market Place in Marina del Rey, as well as office, apartment and retail developments in Southern California.

Held/Jones, developers or contractors on the UCLA Medical Office building, Westwood Place and numerous office buildings.

KBL Associates, a joint venture of individuals involved in retail and office developments in Santa Ana (Main Place), El Segundo (Continental Grand Plaza) and Valencia (Valencia Gateway Plaza).

Seven developers had submitted preliminary proposals. The committee, which includes Mayor Robert K. Tanenbaum and Councilman Maxwell H. Salter, narrowed the list to four based on each developer’s financial capabilities, retail, commercial and parking development experience, and architectural qualities.

The four firms have 90 days to present final development proposals. The advisory committee will then have 60 days to evaluate the proposals and make a recommendation to the City Council. The council is expected to make its final determination in January, 1989.
