Boeing Co. has agreed to be the exclusive worldwide marketing agent to sell an unspecified number of used 747s owned by Japan Air Lines. Boeing spokesman Paul Fang said the agreement is independent of airplane purchase agreements between Boeing and JAL. “This is the first time Boeing has been asked to become an agent to market used airplanes that a customer owns,” Fang said. Japan Air Lines has the largest fleet of jumbo jets in the world, with 62 Boeing 747s. It also has 20 on order, some to replace older 747s that are to be sold.
