The first winner in a countywide centennial art contest sponsored by the Orange County Medical Assn. is a sixth-grade pupil at Ethan Allen Elementary School in Garden Grove, medical association officials have announced.
Kia Hasheminejad’s drawing of a caduceus--the serpent-and-staff emblem used as a symbol of the medical profession--is labeled “100 Years of Service” and is featured on the cover of the medical society’s publication this month.
Participants in the contest, which will continue through the centennial year, are asked to visually describe their feelings toward medicine. Winning artwork will be displayed on the publication covers and at the medical association’s Centennial Gala in May. Students from sixth grade to college are eligible.
