The Reagan Administration Friday acclaimed as a “sound relief effort” a $3.9-billion drought aid compromise calling for a three-month dairy price-support increase but limiting feed assistance for livestock producers.

The White House said President Reagan “looks forward to a vote early next week . . . and quick passage of the legislation.”

White House spokesman Marlin Fitzwater said Secretary of Agriculture Richard E. Lyng reported to the President on the compromise.

“The President said he was satisfied that the bill would offer payments to the farmers who actually suffer the losses,” Fitzwater said.

House Agriculture Committee Chairman E. (Kika) de la Garza (D-Tex.) said floor action would come Thursday at the latest.
