Red Adair Returns to Houston After Platform Fire Work

ABERDEEN, Scotland —
Texas trouble-shooter Paul (Red) Adair flew home to Houston after putting out fires on the stricken Piper Alpha North Sea oil platform, Occidental Petroleum said Friday.
For weeks after blasts ripped through the platform on July 6, Adair and his team of firefighters battled to extinguish and cap Piper Alpha’s blazing wells.
The accident, the world’s worst offshore oil disaster, killed 167 men.
