Chemical Plant Leak Forces 1,700 to Flee
Associated Press
NASHUA, N.H. —
A chemical plant leak forced the evacuation of about 1,700 people Friday from homes and businesses in Hudson and Nashua and created a vapor cloud over the Merrimack River, authorities said.
Nearly six hours after the spill of phosphorus trichloride was reported at the W. R. Grace Co. at 5:10 a.m., it had been contained and the chemicals transferred to a neutralizing tank, the fire department said.
There were no reports of injuries.
