Two Secret Service agents assigned to protect Gov. Michael S. Dukakis lost their .357 magnum revolvers, radio equipment and identification pins in a burglary at a Boston hotel, police said today.

Investigators were trying to determine whether the burglary Sunday night at the Colonnade Hotel was targeted at the Secret Service agents or was a random break-in.

The agents’ two 10th-floor hotel rooms, separated by another room that was not broken into, were entered between 8:35 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. and did not appear to have been forced open, police said.

Dukakis campaign spokesman Mark Gearan said the governor was informed of the incident and was not concerned about a possible security threat.
