South Korean officials, disappointed that North Korea has rejected a proposal to work out details for full-scale discussions between the bitterly divided countries, would agree to a meeting to discuss the Communist nation’s possible role in the Seoul Summer Olympic Games, sources said. A letter from the North Korean Supreme People’s Assembly suggested a meeting in Panmunjom on Aug. 17 on “logistical arrangements,” then a fuller parliamentary meeting on Aug. 26 over the Games issue. South Korea had urged detailed preliminary talks on working out an agenda for wider negotiations over a range of issues.
