Robert Chambers asked a court today to enter a $25-million judgment against him on behalf of the parents of Jennifer Levin, the young woman he strangled in Central Park in the “preppie murder” case two years ago.

The request was filed in state Supreme Court by his attorney, Brian O’Dwyer, who said in court papers that he had advised Chambers against the move.

In a handwritten note to the court from prison, the 21-year-old Chambers said: “I elect not to contest the action for damages brought against me by the Levins.

“My only wish is for the nightmare to end, for both families and friends. I do not wish the Levins to endure any more pain.”

O’Dwyer said he explained to Chambers that all his property could be attached and sold to satisfy the judgment, and that any future salary, property, gift or inheritance he receives could be attached as well.

Chambers wrote the note at Great Meadows state prison in Comstock, N.Y., where he is serving a 5-to-15-year sentence. He pleaded guilty in March to manslaughter while the jury was deliberating murder charges.

Parents File Suit

Steven and Ellen Levin, the victim’s parents, filed a wrongful death suit against Chambers on July 22.

Despite his Upper East Side residence and prep school education, Chambers is not wealthy. His mother is a nurse who made about $70,000 last year, and his father is a clerk who earned less than $40,000.
