THE OUTDOORS : Yellowtail Finally Make Appearance at Coronado Islands

Share

Yellowtail have finally shown in significant numbers at the Coronado Islands south of San Diego, brightening the outlook for the remainder of what might have been a dismal summer of saltwater fishing.

On Monday, San Diego’s overnight fishing fleet reported its largest single-day catch of the season--1,371 yellowtail running mostly between 12-20 pounds.

A spokesman at one of the landings said one boat reported 100 yellowtail landed by noon Tuesday and that others were beginning to report similar catches as the day progressed.
