Alhambra : Development Project Stalled

Share

A major Alhambra redevelopment project was stalled Monday when two City Council members disqualified themselves from the vote to select a developer and the other three members could not reach a consensus.

Mayor Talmadge Burke and Councilwoman Mary Louise Bunker excused themselves from the vote because both own land near the Main Street Redevelopment Project that could have been affected by the development. Voting council members J. Parker Williams and Michael Blanco selected Dicker-Warmington Developers of Fullerton. Barbara Messina chose a joint proposal from Riley/Pearlman & DSL Service Co. of Los Angeles.

A majority vote of the council, acting as the city’s Redevelopment Agency, is needed to hire a developer. The agency’s executive director, Michael Martin, said the item will come before the council again on Aug. 22.
