Los Angeles : Cal State Choral Center

Share

The Roger Wagner Center for Choral Studies has been established at Cal State Los Angeles to promote the teaching and research of choral music. Named for the 74-year-old founder of the Roger Wagner Chorale, it will house recordings, letters, publications and photographs from his collection. Wagner will teach courses in choral music at the college next spring.

William Wells Belan, associate professor of music who helped found the center, said it will address the public’s dwindling interest in and support of choral music. “The center will somehow make choirs re-fit into today’s entertainment world, which is considerably different from 1950, when Wagner began his choirs,” Belan said.
