Local News in Brief : Gang Jobs Coordinator
Los Angeles City Councilman Nate Holden has retained a full-time employment coordinator who will try to find jobs and alternative activities for gang members and other youths.
Paula Ramsey-Hunter, who has a master’s degree from Harvard University’s School of Education and a background in corporate marketing, starts work Monday in Holden’s office at a salary of $33,000 annually.
“At a recent summit meeting between gang members, both sides agreed that what they needed was more jobs, and I pledged to do whatever I could to make those jobs happen,” Holden said Wednesday. “I have taken the first step, and I urge political leaders and representatives from the business community to join me in this effort.”
