Eastman Kodak Co. has named Leo J. Thomas as chairman of its Sterling Drug Inc. unit.

Thomas succeeds John M. Pietruski, who has resigned as Sterling chairman, effective Aug. 31.

Sterling, maker of such products as Bayer Aspirin and Phillips Milk of Magnesia, was acquired by Rochester, N.Y.-based Eastman Kodak in March for $5.1 billion.

Thomas, 51, had served as vice chairman of Sterling since May. He joined Kodak in 1961 and had served as a senior vice president for the company.
