Federal prosecutors cited what they termed disturbing new entries in presidential assailant John W. Hinckley Jr.’s medical record in opposing plans to take him on a field trip. The entries of Aug. 8 and Aug. 10 document the government’s conclusion that Hinckley “presents an unusual risk to the safety of the community” if allowed to accompany other St. Elizabeths Hospital patients on a supervised field trip, U.S. Atty. Jay B. Stephens said in filing in U.S. District Court in Washington. The nature of the entries was not revealed in the court records. U.S. District Judge Barrington D. Parker has scheduled a hearing today on the hospital’s plan to take Hinckley on an unspecified field trip, which doctors say would be beneficial.
