A federal judge in San Francisco has issued an injunction to prohibit random drug testing of 1,100 members of the National Weather Service Employees Organization. Friday’s order follows similar recent decisions prohibiting random testing of railroad workers, Department of Justice lawyers, and Bureau of Prison and Veterans Administration employees. Attorney Richard Hertling, representing the government, said the testing of weather service personnel is aimed at preventing a disaster.
