Nobel Prize-winning Colombian novelist Gabriel Garcia Marquez will not be on hand to witness the world premiere Wednesday night of his first play, “Diatribe of Love,” in Rio de Janeiro’s Cervantes Theater. Garcia Marquez, who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1982, told the Buenos Aires newspaper Clarin that he planned to attend a performance later this month. The play has only one speaking part, written especially for Argentine actress Graciela Dufau, whom Garcia Marquez met during the 1986 Havana Film Festival.
