Local News in Brief : Man Pleads No Contest in Execution Killing
A Pacoima man pleaded no contest Wednesday to voluntary manslaughter in the execution-style killing of another Pacoima man.
William Carson, 28, was charged in the July 6 shooting of Norris Lavell Breazeale, 25, at the Pacoima home of Johnny Rae Johnson, 32. Johnson pleaded no contest Wednesday to being an accessory after the fact and to helping to dispose of Breazeale’s body, Deputy Dist. Atty. Marian Klein said.
Klein said officials do not know the motive for the killing. Breazeale was shot first in the chest, then three more times in the upper torso, Klein said.
Although Carson was charged with murder and a jury trial was in progress, a plea bargain was struck because no eyewitness could be found, Klein said.
Carson could be sentenced to a maximum of 13 years in prison. Johnson could receive a maximum three-year prison sentence, although Klein said she will recommend that he receive probation.
