‘Too Fast’ Is All Too True

The bank where I work employs several young people between 20 and 25. Some of them are working at their first real jobs after high school or college. Most are living at home and spending half of their incomes on new-car payments and insurance premiums. None of them is saving anything.

A few of these young people would like to think that they will someday be having families of their own, but it is hard to imagine them supporting children when they can’t seem to make ends meet as singles living at home. Other than ridiculously unrealistic dreams (the girls hope to meet a rich man and the guys hope to meet a Playboy playmate who can cook and do a good job of raising the kids), they mostly have no idea of what to do with the rest of their lives.

The parents of these materialistic teen-agers in your article should know that if they want grandchildren, they may have a long wait.
