Fred LaPlante, women’s track coach at USC since 1984, has resigned to become an assistant men’s coach at Eastern Michigan University.
Mike Bailey, an assistant at USC, will replace LaPlante.
“I am an alumnus of Eastern Michigan, and it’s an opportunity for me to go back to the university I owe a lot to. And it puts me in the picture for the future,” LaPlante said.
It’s believed that LaPlante is in line to become head coach at Eastern Michigan when Bob Parks, the present coach, retires.
