Local News in Brief : 2 Seek Inglewood School Post

Share

Two candidates have filed for the Nov. 7 special Inglewood school board election for the remaining vacancy on the five-member board.

The candidates are Joseph Rouzan, a criminal justice consultant and former city police chief, and Jewett Walker, an insurance underwriter and PTA activist.

Trustees appointed Rouzan to the board last year after Trustee Ernest Shaw died. But community groups angered by the secretiveness of the appointment process launched a petition drive that ousted Rouzan and forced an April election, won by Larry Aubry.

Rouzan did not run in April, but he is running now for the vacancy created by the resignation of board member Rose Mary Benjamin in February. That seat will be up for election again in April, 1989.
