Station Drops Quayle Lampoon
An Indianapolis radio station has pulled from the air a song lampooning Republican vice presidential nominee Dan Quayle’s National Guard service, officials said today.
WFBQ’s controversial morning team of Bob Kevoian and Tom Griswold first aired “I Spent the War in Indiana” Monday. The lyrics were written by Griswold and a local musician. Station Manager Chris Wheat said the song was removed from the air at around 9 a.m. today. The song’s lyrics included “I spent the war in Indiana, Getting shot was not for me. I never went to ‘Nam, I never saw Saigon, I only watched it on TV.”
