Marvin Tuomala, president and chief operating officer of Martin Aviation for the past 30 months, has been appointed chief executive officer. He will assume responsibilities for all operations at the firm’s headquarters at John Wayne Airport and at the satellite facilities at Burbank and Long Beach airports. He succeeds Robert Volk, chairman, who said he is stepping down from the CEO post he has held since 1980 because of increased family responsibilities. Tuomala joined Martin in 1976 and was named maintenance manager in 1977. He also held the positions of vice president of maintenance and executive vice president before being named president and chief operating officer in March, 1986. Martin Aviation is a general aviation operator, offering sales, flight training, charter and maintenance operations.
